Comic actress Anna Faris is slated to step into Goldie Hawn's combat boots for a remake of the classic army flick Private Benjamin, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
New Line is reconstructing the seminal 1980 Hawn comedy, reconfiguring it for the new century. Amy Talkington is in discussions to write the new take, to be produced by Mark Gordon.
The Scary Movie and House Bunny actress will take on Hawn's role as Benjamin, a privileged young woman who enlists in the U.S. Army after her husband dies during sex on their wedding night.
One of the top-grossing movies of that year, Private Benjamin was hailed for tackling women's issues and earned three Oscar nominations: best actress for Hawn, supporting actress for Eileen Brennan and original screenplay by Nancy Meyers, Charles Shyer and Harvey Miller.
New Line is also working on remakes of National Lampoon's Vacation and Police Academy.
